Please join us for a guided visit of the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome. Founded shortly after the Second World War, NDC is an educational and research institute dedicated to the dissemination of defense knowledge to a high-level professional and military audience, as well as broader communications on the role of conflict management and security, for members of the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and beyond. 

We will be welcomed by the director of NDC, and taken on a guided tour of its architecture and history, closing our tour with a talk by Andrea Gilli, a senior researcher in military affairs at NDC and an Affiliate of the Center for International Security and Cooperation of Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He holds a PhD in Social and Political Science from the European University Institute (EUI) in Fiesole (Florence, Italy), an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Turin (Italy).  Gilli has been a visiting fellow at the Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies, Columbia University, among many other prestigious appointments. We will be led through some of the key issues that Dr. Gilli focuses on in relation to national security, including questions of technology and innovation, in particular in the implementation of specific weapons systems, and uses management science to explain military strategy.
